Settling into an apartment is about more than rent. This page collects free and low-cost health care, rent and utility assistance, and community organizations across St. Louis and North County — no insurance required for most of them, and no jargon from us.

One number to remember: 2-1-1. United Way 2-1-1 is a free, 24/7 phone line (dial 211, or 1-800-427-4626) that connects you to rent help, utility assistance, food pantries, shelters, health care, and more across Greater St. Louis. When in doubt, start there.

Several of the organizations above offer services in Spanish: Casa de Salud (bilingual staff and interpreters at every visit), the MICA Project (fully bilingual), and St. Francis Community Services. The International Institute provides interpretation and translation in many languages. If you need help in another language, ask — most clinics and agencies on this page can arrange an interpreter.
