Low-Cost Prenatal Care & WIC in North County

Pregnancy should never go without care because of money. St. Louis has sliding-scale prenatal care, free nurse home visits, and WIC food support — and most of it is available right in North County.

If something is wrong right now: call 911 or go to labor and delivery for any urgent warning sign, including vaginal bleeding or fluid leaking, a headache that will not go away or keeps getting worse, dizziness or fainting, changes in your vision, a fever of 100.4°F or higher, extreme swelling of your hands or face, trouble breathing, chest pain or a fast-beating heart, severe nausea and throwing up, severe belly pain that does not go away, severe swelling, redness or pain in a leg or arm, thoughts of harming yourself or your baby, or your baby moving less or stopping. After birth, heavy bleeding, passing clots bigger than an egg, or bad-smelling discharge is also an emergency sign. If something just feels wrong and you are not sure it is serious, call your doctor or midwife right away. Do not wait for an appointment. (Warning signs from the CDC’s Hear Her campaign.)
